Of course it is a good read. It tells people exactly what they want to hear. Who wants to read about anything that goes against what the world believes to be acceptable(Bible). Even the Bible mentions that. As in TGS's title under his handle...Ruler of Earth. What would you expect the Satanic Bible to do other than punch holes in the Bible and Christianity. DUHHHHHHHHHH! Let me ask you, you've read the Satanic bible, but have you ever read THE Bible?

Butterfly, you make a good point, but who's definition of morally acceptable is everyone going to accept? THat always seem to be an ongoing question.

Yo Crono...sorry for the confusion and thanks for asking me to clarify. Sometimes, my sacrasm overrides my point.

When I said to PB, "sure it's a good read", I was referring to his view on the Satanic bible. By that I meant it is a good read because it fits in more with what the world wants to hear...that The Holy Bible and Christianity is full of holes. I don't agree with that, but that is what is easier for everyone to accept. Look at it this way, what would people rather listen too...validation that the way we act and live is okay and no change is involved OR, that maybe there is a higher standard that should be strived for? Nobody likes change and everyone likes status quo and mediocrity in one form or another.

And Yes, the Christian Bible is a good read especially when read with a cross reference or concordance of historical FACT(And yes, I do believe it). Most people are not willing to dig that deep though because again, it required too much effort...just accept the popular view and run with it. Does this clear up what I meant a little bit? I love discussing this stuff, but would rather do it through PM's. It's too hard to do it in open forums because it is too easy to get off track discussing things of no relevance or dealing wiht people out to make you look stupid. Most people will not discuss it one on one though, because again, we all like validation and that usually comes through acceptance and popular agreement of a group.

Actually I have...I've also read most of the Koran as well...I did it in university when I took a philosophy of religion class...most of this stuff was required reading. I've also studied Wicca, Bhuddism and Daoism...and they all provide different looks at things, which I think is really cool.

My deal is, believe what you want to believe, and that's fine with me...as soon as anybody starts pushing their religion on me by telling me I'm going to hell if I don't believe the same way as them I have a problem with it. Or judging people because they don't believe the same way. Or telling me how to live my life based on what a book says. I make my own choices

On another note...Ponyboy, that's cool that you took those course offering? I've taken them myself and found them pretty interesting. Having read many of those writing myself both in calss and out of class. Don;t know 'bout you, but I learned more about them reading on my own then learning from a prof. Prof's job was to teach it to me, but as a teacher not someone that lives any paricular one of them. Hard to teach something that you don't at least follow or believe to some degree. Lots of Univ. was like that though. lol

TGS- has not, to my knowledge, ever tried to convince anyone else to switch over to his lifestyle. as for his children- hey, each to his/her own. he admits that he ain't the best of people, he doesn't care about anyone except himself and his family, he admits that he is intolerant and he doesn't try to wiggle his way out of it when someone confronts him about his stated opinions and beliefs. The rest of us get all twitchy ( i love that emoticon with the twitchy eye ) when we are confronted with our own reprehensible comments. We ( not everyone ) get all defensively offensive( strange combinition but true) when someone points out that we are not what we wish to believe ourselves to be.
