Last year, prior to the Olympia, Muscle & Fitness featured an NFL cheerleader on the cover rather than Ms. Olympia Fitness or Figure or any of the other pro women. So much for marketing the women to the general public.

that is because no one in the general public gives a shit! Why would they put one of the (wo)men on the cover of a magazine if it isn't going to sell as well as the NFL cheerleader? It is a business. I don't care what they do with their bodies but c'mon! You can't tell me that they honestly think that they can make a real impact in the sports world? Men's bodybuilding is a small subculture and womans bodybuilding is even smaller! They have to just accept that. People aren't interested. Most people don't even know who Mr. Olympia is.

The gradual but obvious deterioration in the treatment of women bodybuilders by the IFBB is all the more ironic ??? if not tragic ??? because we are in the midst of what appears to be the golden age of women's sports

that is because it isn't a sport! The women mentioned in that article are real athletes that do real athletic things that people can look up to, respect and asipire to do themselves. How can you compare Ms. Olympia to a WNBA stary? You can't!! I think in general most high school aged girls would rather play basketball and be athletic or even look like an NFL cheerleader then take tons of drugs which enhance their male charateristics and look like this Olympia woman. It apeals to a vary small crowd and that is just how it is. It isn't like putting them on magazines is going to promote it or make it more acceptable to the public.

I think having it (the contest) at the actual convention is a better idea as far as trying to promote it because more people will see it and be inclined to stop and watch (for at least a second). Where as, if you have it in a seperate venue where people have to pay money for it then there is going to be very little support.

These women need to quit bitching.

I agree with you on this one.
