Hello all,

I started a new nutrition/exercise program the first part of the year. Things started out pretty darn good, too. I started at 217 pounds (I'm 6'2"), and am now at 206.

However, it's been three weeks since I've lost any weight. I'm taking in 2400 calories per day, with 35% from protein, 35% from good fats, and the rest from carbs.

I lift 3 days per week, with no cardio (part of the program I'm following). I do intend on incorporating 2 20-30 minute sessions of HIIT per week, and am also considering reducing my caloric intake by 300-400 per day.

My main concern is that if I do reduce my calories more, is it possible that my body is going to say 'whoa there, Mr. Stevie Vai fan, I gotta keep this blubber you've got, 'cuz you're starving me'.

Any thoughts or nasty comments are appreciated.

Oh, and rent the movie 'Crossroads' with Ralph Macchio. At the end of it is this fantastic guitar duel with Ralph being the good guy, and Steve Vai portraying the devil's henchman, who's out collecting souls. Absolutely fantastic. And no, Ralph isn't playing guitar, it's actually Ry Cooder doing the slide work, and Vai doing the rest of it.

Hmmm,,,, you sound like you could be my twin. I'm 6'2" and 206. My only gripe is the subcataneous fat layer all over. I haven't started cutting yet, but I hope to get down to around 6-7% BF.

As for your question, I'll leave that to be answered by someone with more knowledge.

good job on the diet and working out, thats what its all about.and i thought Crossroads was a good film......:thumb:

Sounds like your metabolism has slowed. When was the last time you played around w/ the calorie intake?

I would suggest a day of increasing your calories...still eat clean, just more. Then you could begin cycling your calories...one day take 2600, another take 2300, etc, but keep it so that the weekly still averages your 2400 cals...does that make sense?

Perhaps you should give the 'ol cardio a shot . Wouldn't be bad fer yer ticker either :thumb:

Thank you all for the replies and the encouragement.

W8, yeah, I follow ya, and you've given me similar advice as another person that I trust with this type of guidance. He was telling me about a friend that was on weight watchers forever, but stopped dropping. She then added a couple of days where she ate significantly more than she had been, and the weight started shedding again. I'll give it a whirl and keep you posted.

By the way, my hero (Steve Vai) is scheduled to be performing tonight at the Grammys, and is also been nominated for Best Instrumental (for the sixth time, I might add). Yeah, you'd think the guy is paying me, wouldn't ya?

Thanks again to all.
