So guys just wanted to leave you with my last question for a long time. Im planning on reading the boards and of course coming back to read this thread but I won't be posting after this. My last question is the following........ If it is true that you must eat in a surplus to build muscle, then how come there are guys out there who go to the gym and lift weights and still build some nice muscle but do not eat above maintenance?
Say Tom goes to the gym 4-5 days per week. He works an office job. He lifts an hour per day and eats 3 meals per day along with some healthy snacks such as protein shakes during the week. He also fits in cardio during the week also here and there. One day he may eat a little more than the next day, and the next day he may eat a little less than the previous day, and so forth. Once in a while he does throw in a donut or a slice of pizza since he's on the road traveling. He doesn't keep track or obsess over numbers/macros on any website or on a notepad. He just eats when he feels hungry. Basically Tom eats like a normal person and not a bodybuilder. Tom looks athletic, has more muscular arms than the average person walking down the street and you can tell he lifts weights. His female co-workers refer to him as the ripped guy at work when they talk to their friends about him on the phone or over coffee.
How did he build muscle by just working out, and eating 3 meals per day along with some snacks without starving himself or keeping track of macros or eating in a surplus?
