My question of weight maintenance...?

Hi all..i hope i have placed this in the proper catagory.
My weight now is at 270 lbs..not sure of my body fat percentage, although its rather high. My plan is to lose down to 215 lbs. as i was about 3 yrs ago. here is my question..if i follow a good clean diet, with good proteins, veggies and protien supps..and slowly lose down to my goal weight..while in the gym hittin it hard and tryin to gain lean muscle while losing the fat, how should i base my caloric intake Now?..at the weight of 270lbs..should i base my intake on the weight of my goal of 215?
I hope this isnt confusing, but im not exactly sure how to pose the question.
Any help or ideas would be greatly appreciated..

base your caloric needs on 270...

Because, you don't want to cut your calories to the point where your body is in starvation mode, that will cause you to burn more muslce as energy and it will severely lower your metabolism...

Cleaning up the diet is a good idea, if anything, keeping the calories higher rather than lower and working harder in the Gym is definitely the way to go
 
Yes base it on the 270lbs. If you go to the stickies at the top of this forum in the "Guide to cutting and bulking" it gives you a detailed way to find your calories needed and the breakdowns of P/F/C. Also some diets and in general very helpful information on dieting and good/bad foods.
 
There is no mathematical expression to calculate that precisely.
Just by trial and error.
