I was braught up in a poor area of NYC and recently moved to a suburban area in Jersey. my grades where never very good mainly Cs and Ds some Fs once in a while i would get Bs. this year(sohphomore year) i actually started shaping up I got a bunch of As and Bs one C+ or if im lucky depending on final i get a B(spanish) and one grade in the D-F range which was chemistry. i got mostly Cs and Ds but i failed the midterm and will prob fail the final. Well anyway back to my important decision. I have the option to stay at my school(which is one of the best public schools in the area or go to a private school. I wouldnt want to go to the private school, but if i go there i will be a sophomore again because of my age. I am young for my grade and will still be the same age as most people if i repeat sophomore grade. I want to do it so that i can prepare myself better so that when im a junior I can do better on the SATs also i will start wrestling next year so I will get 3 yrs in HS instead of 2 and tito ortiz only got 3 yrs and he did well. some problems are that all my freinds go to my old school and i wont be able to play football for the new school because it is one of the best in New Jersey at football. what school do you think i should go to?

If you are in your own age group and not behind then do what you feel comfortable with. As long as you focus on your grades and your physical training then you are making good choices for your future imho.

Does your state have a No Pass/No Play Rule? If so what does it matter what you do with grades like that?

Who cares about wrestling. Get your freaking grades together. It will deterimine your life.

Also ... which school has the most respect academically? If you want a major college to accept you, then you should look at academic excellence. That would be more important than which school you can play ball at.

Exactly.. make your academics your priority and develop good working habits now. High school is no where near as tough as college.

I second that.

What schools are you talking about? I am from New Jersey and probably know them.

You probably suck at wrestling and football too. Basing your future off of "What Would Tito Do" or what sports you can play is extremely dumb.

Also, if the public school you are at right now is better than the private, why would you waste your parents' money?

the school i am planning on going to is Bergen Catholic. and my grades are bettter im only getting a D in one class which is chem. but i dont think i will do good on my SAT so i was thinking about repeating a grade.

Get an SAT prep book and make it a main chunk of your study plans over the next few years. You'll sooooo totally own your SAT if you do. I scored very well on my SAT's while being a high school drop-out just because I studied hard :nerd: for the test. I bought several books and just pounded my way through them until I had all the pre-tests I could find wired. You, my young friend, are in high school and situated perfectly to prepare yourself. All ya gotta do is work the SAT study guides for the next few years and you will cruise through that test.

You can start by using this forum to improve your English composition skills. Start making all your posts with proper syntax and spelling. It'll help.

I personally wouldn't be worried so much about the grades as the work ethic. Work ethic is what will shape your future. To get D's and F's means you're not even trying and if you apply that same effort in the real world you'll be toast.

Now, the issue at hand. I say stay where you're at and apply yourself. Being a year ahead of the game is a good thing if you can handle it.

We all know a few very smart broke ass mofo's, and a few dumbasses who make bank. Work ethics will get you through ...

That is so true. I knew a bunch of kids who slept through school and did well. Now most of them are sleep walking through life. Sad really.

What is wrong with sleeping through school? I did it. LOL

I regret it. But I got a kick in the ass after my first year of Uni, when I drank it away.

Doing a shit job for a year and half realizing you have nothing to look forward to really straightened me out. At least I was young and realized.

Jodi likes me better :nerd:
Well ... I am in the dog house with her right now :( . Maybe I should send her some cheap Canadian beer ... addressed from you of course then you will get :banned: and I will be back in the inner circle of trust.

Even cheap Canadian beer is better then the shit you have down there :p

Plus she has some Canadian Roots :D

I did the same thing. At least you graduated. I dropped out of school at 16 to try and make a buck. I realized real quick how hard that would be. I'm extremely lucky to be in the position I'm in now and I thank (insert any heavenly/spiritual/religious figure of your choosing here) every day.

Of course I did bust my ass to get here.

I see no reason for it as long as you can hold your own from here on out.

alright I will definetly bring my grades up. i realized late this year how important it was. if it wasnt for chemistry i would have like a 4.2. anyway do you think repeating a grade is a good or bad idea?
I don't see any reason to repeat a grade, just study hard and learn as much about the SAT's as possible. Why would you want to prolong your time in High School? I remember all I wanted was to be done with school, I never thought about trying to stay longer.....
