i redid a hardwood floor myself. you need to rent special equipment and yes sand it then apply the finish n let it dry it says 3 days but was 5 in maine. it will look really amazing the 1 i did still looks good 16 years later but it's a lot of work and i swore i'd never do it again unless i owned the house.

Only if it's Wood Laminate Floor. If it's solid hardwood then it was meant to be sanded and refinished many times. That's the appeal of real hardwood floors, they can last forever practically because you can scape away old layers and renew it until you get down to a sliver of wood left. Laminates, i will say, are some fucking tough materials though but once they wear out you gotta rip them out and start fresh that's why we used Bamboo in our spare bathroom, it was cheap and renewable.
