N-acetyl cysteine or NAC- what does it do?
well, in simple terms it detoxifies the liver and restores gluthatione levels in the body
for me personally- I have pcos which has not caused me a whole ton of problems but lately my A1C levels have been creeping up. I have metabolic damage from insulin resistance and when I behave myself with a very strict diet I feel better but lets be realistic, most people don't follow a very strict diet year round and minor slips turn into a cascade of problems for me- most notably jacked up hormone levels
you have any idea how many exogenous (external) estrogens the average person is exposed to? a lot- everywhere- from drinking water to shampoo- to hormone bi-products in your meat to the plastic containers you love to store your food in so much.
how about endogenous (internal) hormone disruption to using gear? you fight that with more drugs but do you ever question if your liver is helping to clear out waste and bi-products? should you be throwing more drugs at it if your bodies natural defense is depressed?
what does it treat?
bunch of stuff!
its used in hospital emergency rooms in mega doses for tylenol (acetaminophen) poisoning which is you don't know, can kill you very painfully in about 7 or so days.
its used a LOT in Europe to treat the flu, to reduce symptoms so you don't feel like you've been hit by a truck
its used to regulate insulin receptors (insulin resistance) - with insulin resistance your cells don't get the signal that insulin has been released and your body makes MORE insulin to compensate- thus making you fat- more fat causes problems with leptin then eventually ghrelin. You're eating way to much but that energy isn't getting into your cells - you have no energy and on a cellular level you're starving but fat as hell. A crappy pardox.
Its also used to treat COPD- obviously other factors come into play here, don't be overweight (it narrows your airway), don't eat mucigenic foods (think things that make snot) and don't smoke- oh..and have good genes
can NAC treat exercise induced asthma? some studies suggest it can reduce it by as much as 40%
it treats liver toxicity- and heres the big one and why it matter to you
you see, all this gear you love? that makes you swole and awesome looking? well- some of it makes a couple passes through your liver..and it can leave scarring because it taxes your liver, which in turn makes your liver less efficient. That decadent food you like sometimes (or all the time- I like it all the time) does a real number on your liver too- it basically gets clogged up with globs of fat and it doesn't work so well- and a fatty liver makes you bloated, and feel kinda blah before it eventually jacks up your lipids and slowly kills you.
OH and it improves your good cholesterol while reducing your bad cholesterol but triglycerides are still on you- eat lots of fiber and you can expect them to slowly go down - but know that very high fat (even good fats) can temporarily make your lipids look odd - don't eat nine avocados dipped in ice cream and topped with peanut butter right before a blood draw. Rapid fat loss can ALSO make lipids look odd for a short period of time.
and speaking of weight loss- NAC can help that too is you have insulin resistance/metabolic syndrome
now I've noticed an improved sleep quality since starting NAC a little over a week ago- and I will have to check out my A1C after a cpl months of taking it as well as my lipids
I also noticed really weirdly that my skin is very soft and smooth and minor chronic bacne is disappearing
sounds great, where can I get some?!?
well- heres where you and I might diverge- I have a run of the mill NAC supplement because Im not using any gear or prescription drugs - I simply got it on amazon- I didn't find the cheapest one I could find- I found the one least likely to have sketchy additives or burn like red hot firey sulphur in my throat if it melted funny- Im also taking a pretty large dose to treat a very specific problem
YOU average male gear junkie would probably like to take a look here at Iron Mag labs for Advance Cycle Support
http://www.ironmaglabs.com/product/advanced-cycle-support-rx/
because for 10 bucks more than just a straight good quality NAC you get some extra kidney support- which btw is important because NAC can cause kidney stones if you aren't careful.
you get prostate support (anyone have some BPH?? or worse?)
and you get a little bit of support with BP normalization and some extra free radical support.
and no side of heavy metals like some other products show up with - that makes me feel warm and fuzzy you wont be getting some mercury poisoning with your supplements.
take a look on over there at Iron Mag Labs and let me know what you think-
if you decide to purchase it- you can use my coupon code, sheriv15 for 15% off- or your favorite reps discount code.
or watch it like a hawk for a big sale- then buy lots at once and hoard it like a weird liver saving squirrel. Or realize how great and well thought out product it is and buy three to get a fourth one free because you KNOW you're gonna be taking it for a few months because you love gear and good health.
but do SOMETHING to take control of your body and keep it healthy
