Ive never posted in this section of the bb before but I have read basically every post for the past couple of weeks (since I registered). I want to know what some of you guys would do you if you were in my shoes (body). Im a big guy really, 6'1 275lbs with too much body fat on me right now but plenty of muscle. I wear a 52" suit coat with a 36" waste. I have always lifted weights here and there but never seriously until about mid December of last year (4 months ago?). Im proud of the fact that I have made HUGE gains in strength over the past months and put on alot of muscle without taking ANYTHING more than multivitamins. I just started taking creatine 3 weeks ago and protein last week. Monday I benched 315lbs for 5 reps and then went back down to 225 and did it for 20 reps. I know this isnt record breaking but I could never even bench more than 305 EVER in the past so this was tremendous for me. I know that I have great genetics for putting on mass and strength (I have a cuz who benches over 500lbs) but HERE is my question/problem: I highly doubt that with my genetics that I will be able to look more like a bodybuilder (what I want) than a superheavyweight power-lifter (where Im basically headed). WILL any anabolic cycle help me get more defined/ripped or will it just make me more massive? I know there are many different ideas and routines out there for "cutting" up and thats not what Im asking about at all...plain and simple: If I juice what will happen to my body? Will a guy who is prone to just get massive only get MORE massive or can he put on more lean muscle without just looking "bigger"?

I havent hit my plateau yet, I am hoping to put up 400lbs by June 1st and I will be darn proud if I can do it without any added "boost", but if I can get my bod to look the way I want it too without benching 400lbs I will be more than satisfied. Ideas? Thanks guys.

You dont need gear to lose bodyfat if that is what you want, you need to control your diet.

I understand that Mudge, for sure. I guess Im having a hard time explaining what I mean. You have all seen the big powerlifters and you have all seen the bodybuilders....if my genetics lean heavily towards making me look like a powerlifter (big but not as defined) will juice/gear help alter that a bit and lead me more towards the bodybuilder body and not just bulky? Yes, I know about losing body fat, which I know I need to do to appear more "cut". THanks mudge.

It can, but actually non SHW powerlifters often go into competition WITH a 6 pack. Gene Rychlak competing at 345-370 doesn't much care about abs however. Most will be heavy in training, and come in "lightweight" at 165, 275, 308 or whatever their bodyweight is, 6 pack and all.

So gear can help protein sparing while dieting down, enabling you to pull a little more calories from the diet hopefully burning fat faster, adding LBM a little faster, it all depends. Basically the diet is your gasoline, the gear your supercharger. If the octane is there, the gear will give a boost, yes.

thanks, part of what has led me to this point is my cousin. Sure I know we dont have the exact same genetics but I do know that we are close. He has lifted HARD and RELIGIOUSLY for many many years (18+yrs) and he is an absolute OX at the gym. Last month he benched 532 in competition weighing in at 334...he is all about the power. Sure, his dieting isnt the best at all and he does little cardio so Im all about breaking the mold in this family and having above average strength coupled with a "fit-looking" physique....maybe not a 6pack but at least a fit and trim 265. ??? LOL

to get the best results out of limited steroid usage you will need to get your diet in check first. once you learn to eat properly supplementation from steroids, etc. are all that more effective.

get your bf checked. I would get down to around 16-17% before hitting up a cycle. you will get better results.
