Need to lose before gain

Hi all,

I'm new to this and I weigh 196. I need to lose about 25 lbs of fat and have chosen diet and weight training to reach my goal. All of the protein info is overwhealming. How much protein should be in my diet if I'm lifting 3 days a week with cardio on the between days? I'm trying to do three sets of 8 with failure on the last reps of set three. I'm doing a full body workout consisting of 6-8 lifts per workout.
