Hello all,
So back in May, I noticed my right tricep was starting to get weak and fail really easily. Not your normal muscle failure weak, it was simply not working. Within a month, it had started to atrophy pretty bad, to the point where it was very noticeable, both in strength and appearance. Long story short, I spent the next 5-6 months in and out of different doctor offices and was diagnosed with nerve damage at my C6. I had no other symptoms....there was never any pain, never any loss of feeling in the rest of the arms etc....I was lifting pretty heavy, and they seem to think I either pinched the nerve off, or severely pissed it off somehow, to the point where it just stopped firing.
I was put in traction for 12 weeks, and I was told to lay of all weight lifting until the nerve came back again. I got pretty depressed at the whole deal and instead of continuing my cardio, and continuing to at least work out my legs the way I should have, I sat on my ass and didn't do anything except eat horribly and feel sorry for myself. I usually walk around between 189-194 at 9% bf (5'8). I'm like 182 right now and feel like a bloated fat ass. I got the clean bill of health 3 weeks ago, and I know it'll come off quick, just kind of pissed at myself for letting it go.
Anybody else ever have an injury similar to this at all? My strength is coming back pretty quick, on all my lifts, except my bench, which is to be expected I guess. The Dr said the size of the tricep probably won't come back for a while. I'm just interested to see if anyone else has been through this at all. I'm super paranoid it'll happen again, if I start lifting heavy again, due to the fact that I still have no idea why it happened in the first place. Getting old sucks
