It is better than margarine... But I still wouldn't use it - I would rather use avocado, olive oil or even peanut butter/nut butter as a spread...

on occassion I use Smart Balance Light Buttery Spread with Flax Oil. It's got a good blend of poly and mono in it.

I have used both Smart Balance and Promise Buttery Spread. I like them both and I think they are better than regular butter or margarine.

theres new butter made of olive oil out called olivio

olivio all the way for me too

butter

Have you ever tried Ghee Clarified Butter? Purity Farms puts an organic one out. Very good. Fat 5g,sat fat 3g,trans fat 0, cholesterol 8mg, sodium 0, sugar 0, 45 calories per tsp. Those alternative butters are mostly chemicals and chemical processing. yuk. You might want to try it...www.purityfarms.com or Sprouts, Henry's usually carry it.

:barf: Ghee? Arggg... clarified or not - it is still just butter!

You could just use some olive oil - you can drizzle it over bread just like butter. Also, there are things like walnut oil, avocado oil, nut spreads etc etc...

There are much healthier alternatives than butter...

Maybe I should "clarify " here. If someone absolutely has to have that buttery taste, then ghee is better choice than chemical butter. I agree with you that olive oil is best and that is what I use. Organic. Not that you can completely trust what comes down the pike these days. Industry is so corrupted. You can only try to avoid the poison they put into things.
