Hello peeps,

Ive been lurking on the board for quite some time now, and just finally figured Id go ahead and get involved and get my body up to par with what my mind wants.

Either way, I am deeply confused with supplements. Not confused with what types of chemicals do what, but with what manufactors supplements do. I have a good friend that has been lifting for quite some time, and he told me to take : protein, creatine, glutamine to start off.

I read a lot of different reviews and magazines about supplements and weightlifting, but always come to the same conclusion. The reviews and magazines that I read, are just one big advertisement.

Take the three mags I read : MuscleMag, Ironman, and Flex. If I could go to one page that didnt have some type of Muscletech advertisement on it, and just see and actual break down comparison of it, I wouldnt be so confused.

I just dont want to blow a lot of money on a supplement just so the company can afford more advertisement space and not give me a good or better product.

Personal info:

Ive been taking a few supplements, muscle milk, eas creatine, eas recovery, and my multi one a day vitamin. Everyonce in a while for workout times, I take pyruvate for energy.

In about 2 weeks time I went from 145(which Ive weighed for 7 years and couldnt ever get over 150) to 157.

Im happy with those results, but its slowing down dramatically, and the results arent making me smile as much as I did for those 2-3 weeks about my body.

Any guides out there? Any sites to actually see comparisons and breakdowns for different supplements? What do I need to take?

Thanks !

PS sorry for the book you had to read!

1st of all Welcome to IM. The eas supp's that you listed are just fine. When you look at muscletech's add your're thinking to yourself'' i wanna be just like those guys'' its great advertising, but your wallet will empty out in hurry. Stick with what your using now.. Could you post your work out as well as your diet please, then ''we'' can all help out. theres alot of support here at IM.:thumb:

Thanks for the welcome!

Well, as far as my work out goes, I searched around on the net, and found this site http://www.thepumpingstation.com/beginner.html as it also has more advanced workouts. I kinda like the way it works very basically to just get me started, and get my muscles developing the correct way. I dont have a routine-routine if you know what I mean, I only get the chance to lift periodically due to my work schedule. I work nights and days, rotating, and never the same nights and days each week which really sucks. So I have to get my lifting in whenever possible.

I need a partner, but its kinda hard with the schedule I work, so I just get in my freezing garage, with some sweats on, and work out on my bench, and try to do whatever I can.

I read the contents of supplements to see how many carbs and proteins and such that it contains, should I go for the ones with the most proteins, or what?

My main goal is to get away from this small 150lbs 5'11 body, and bulk up, not a whole lot, but Id like to be around 180-190, and strong.
