Just wanted to give everyone the heads up on the latest online scam. Apparently it works like this.. you get an email seemingly from PayPal saying you have purchased some item (Sony camera is what my friend got).. it gives you a link to a site if you want to "cancel transaction" -- this is the site after you log in:

http://t446.ims-firmen.de/ww/.us/cmd-run=/Verify.htm

Obviously bogus due to the fact that it is a foreign site (.de, Denmark I believe) and has no security (padlock symbol in bottom right).

Read some of the stuff on this site:
"Important Notice - Please confirm the refund request for the payment to LLCellular (paypal@llcellular.com)"
"Enter Your Card Information - PayPal recommends using a debit card instead of a credit card, due to the higher security level of these."
"It's always safe to use the debit card linked to your checking account that is currently attached to your PayPal account."

Even asks for the last four digits of your social in case they want to take a crack at your security code for other purposes .

Just wanted to give everyone the heads up.. not a very creative scam, but a scam nonetheless.. perhaps let your not so computer-literate friends and family know.

I was actually impressed by one eBay spoof email I received. I recognized the email as being a spoof, but I clicked the link to see how they did with the login page. It looked like an exact replica of eBay's page and even the links led to the actual eBay links. The only thing wrong was a very slight difference in placement of one thing and the address bar didn't show a legitimate address.

Interestingly, there is a criminal who scammed someone out of so much money that he moved to another country and hired lawyers. His lawyers are so good that they're able to keep him out of jail (he's been there for years). Sometimes, crime does pay. Heh.

Just hover over the link like Rob said. Dont fall for their shiat.

.DE is Germany, Denmark is another country.
