I worked with troubled youth for many years, ages 7-16. From my experience self inflection seemed to revolve around poor family structure or bond. These kids had no confidence, no skills in using their words to explain how the felt. They lacked the interest to develop relationships because they've never seen it with in their own family. Once I was able to build a relationship with them, and let them know that I was truly there to help them, they would break down and let it all out. Underneath it all, it's a pretty sad world out there when it comes to parents not being supportive or "present" for their kids...

As young as 7? Man I've heard and read about Borderline Personality Disorder in adults, but this is just sad.

They keep squeezing the life out younger and younger children by limiting that they are allowed to do and it's a mystery why they're getting more and more fucked up?

Really?

Very sad, one of the reason's why teen suicide is on the rise in this country. What ever happened to the true meaning of "Family"? Gone with an obese epidemic who's current fad is skinny jeans. That's the biggest WTF in my mind. I asked my parents once when I was a small kid if I could get some "baggy" jeans since that was the style when I was young, never asked them again. They taught me how to build relationships without the superficial "I'm cool because I wear what's in style", mostly because of money issues too. But many of those friends I made from that period in my life are still very close friends till this day. Nothing fake about it...
