Plasma really got a bum deal, everyone jumped ship a little too soon.

Plasma really got a bum deal, everyone jumped ship a little too soon.

I talked with a salesman at Ultimate Electronics for a good 45 minutes about LCD's and Plasma's, after he explained their technologies in great detail I asked him which one he owned, and he said an LCD. The funny thing is the entire time it seemed like he was saying that the Plasma's were superior, but in the end when he said he bought an LCD over a Plasma that pretty much summed it up for me.

I also fell into that, once they said that the LCD was going to be the format I went to LCD.
I would buy a plasma now if I needed one.

That is exactly where I was at. I bought a 42" LCD Sony Bravia because the masses where going with LCD. When I divorced the ex got that set. Second time around I went with a plasma, and I am so glad I did!

Another thing worth mentioning is that if the set is to be located in a brightly lit room LCD is the way to go, but they don't look good in a dark room. The lack of detailed blacks becomes more apparent, and you will usually see some 'clouding' from the backlight. Plasmas look their best in a semi-dark, or completely darkened room.

My Plasma has nice clean blacks day or night, I don't even have HD channels.....
