I just think thet "Bret Favre" consipiricy thing is such a load of crap. There was no way in hell Brett Favre was not getting sacked by Strahan, he just didn't put up a fight. Call the guy's whole career a wash because he "spat in Gastineau's face?"

In the split second he saw someone comming to tackle him he thought "Oh here comes Michael Strahan, I should lay down so he can get the record. That will benefit my career sooooooo much." Brett Favre would take a chance on tarnishing his whole career by laying down so someone's (who's not even on his team) name would appear in a record book? That's silly.

Someone that knows about football should also know that Favre doesn't just "toss balls up for grabs and hope that someone catches it." Sure he throws some questionable balls, but he has a better chance of making a first down by throwing that ball to a spot that gives his reciver a chance to make a play, than he does by taking the sack. It's not Favre's fault that the team around him sucks. I would bet alot-o-dough that if Rodgers were to have started this year, that team would be 4-11 right now not even remotely thinking about the playoffs.

I'd take him number 2 after Montana. I like a ballsy qb w/ as much passion for the sport than anyone who's ever picked up a football. Maybe not the absolutely best arm or accuracy ever, but a leader and a scrapper.

That's not the way it happened.

4th quarter Packers leading 34-25. Favre walks up to Strahan before the play and says something to him. Favre goes into huddle and calls a run play to the tailback. Favre comes to the line and runs a naked bootleg to Strahan's side. Bubba Franks is lined up on Strahan and down blocks on the inside linebacker allowing Strahan by, since the it was a designed handoff to the left. The fullback blocks the 3 gap to the left. In other words the right end was not designed to be blocked on a bootleg to the right?????? Favre spins and slides under Strahan for the record breaker. Half the Giants defense is smiling and patting Favre on the head.

After the game Favre state he changed the play at the line. 10 of 11 Packers claim they didn't hear the audible.

It's not a conspiracy it's a fact.

It doesn't diminish his accomplishments at all. But, he did lose a lot of fans that day, me being one of them. I don't like the fact that the line shut Strahan down after he dominated all year long, yet Favre decided to hand the record to him anyways. Not to mention Gastineau held that record for 17 years. I think that he should have earned that, and it's does tarnish the record.

Favre didnt jsut walk upto him, watch the video on youtube or something. They exchanged words as they passed each other smiling, as most NFL players do.

Having said that, I think that once he saw Strahan coming at him he decided it was best to just drop since a part of him DID want to give him the record, I don't think he went out of his way to fuck up a drive to give it to him.

It couldn't have been a drop back the whole offensive line was going down field.

He didn't fuck up the drive it was the same as if they handed to Green, as long as the clock kept running. No way in any other game, with a nine point lead and 2:42 reamining on first down does he pull that. You run the ball on at the very least first and second down, and keep the clock moving. And you certainly don't roll Brett Favre out with the game in hand, 2 minutes before the playoffs start and take the chance he takes a hit and gets injured.

I didn't realize Bubba counted as 10 people, he wasn't THAT bloated.

It looks like a miscommunication that resulted in a sack, and Brett knew he couldnt throw it because he had linemen downfield and knew he wasn't gonna get away from an oncoming Strahan so he submitted a split second before the sack and hit the ground...the same way qb's hit the ground when they scramble.

I watched the game, I saw the interviews everyone of those offensive players said it was a run. No I can't pull up a quote from every player.

That's the point lineman, don't go down field and run block on pass plays.

Favre got killed for that for months, and the writers don't do that to him unless it's warranted, we're not talking about T.O. here. Not, to mention the consideration of an asterisk next to the sack record, and they even considered calling it a designed run and ruling it a tackle for loss.

If you can't see that the play didn't fit the situation at all, then I give up.

I agree that i am also tired of Favre. Don't get me wrong, he had a great career and he's a hall of famer for sure but all the espn analysts and fans are sucking this guy's balls big time. He isn't that great anymore and he's only making things worse the last few years with a terrible team and throwing more interceptions than ever before. His name is always mentioned everywhere and i'm getting sick of it so he needs to seriously hang up his cleats after this season.

Had the Giants lost last night, it would have set up a very interesting Sunday. Atlanta, Carolina and St Louis all would have had something to play for, and then they would have had to wait out the final game of the day. It's going to take a minor miracle for Green Bay to make it now.
