I know there have been threads over this before, but I was recently in GNC and told them that I was starting a new weight training regimen and was looking for something that would help with mass gain to be taken following workouts.

I specifically told them that I am in an application process and would be required to undergo a urinalysis and polygraph and was looking for something that would not affect those. I was recommended the Nitro-tech hardcore powder. Not knowing anything about it, but having history taking EAS several years ago, I read the ingredients and purchased it. After being on it a few days I read a really old review that claims that athletes have tested positive for steroid use after taking this supplement.

My question is, has this has been resolved or should I be concerned now and immediately stop taking this supplement? I believe all the articles and posts regarding this issue was in 2002-2004 and am unsure if it is still a concern or if they have redesigned their formula.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!

What happened was that Muscletech's manufacturing plant had traces of hormones in it from the previous pharma company that used the machinery. So traces of rx drugs got into the mix, I believe.

I wouldn't worry about it, it is a natural protein powder nothing more really. Next time save yourself some money and buy the ON 100% Whey or GNC 100% Whey.

Or really save yourself some money and shop elsewhere than GNC!!!!! They aren't the best bargain on the block!!

Another good tip is dont listen to the people in GNC either. Most only can tell ya whats on the label. It doesnt take a rocket scientist to do that. Most of them know bumfuck nothing of how the supplement will actually work...etc..etc.

Thanks for all your advice. That places my mind at great ease. I agree that GNC isn't the best place to purchase supplements. It happened to be convienent at the time and offered the opportunity to get something now besides it was on sale for $29. Anyhow, if you think all that extra crap in the powder isn't as useful then I would gladly get the 100% whey protein powder instead next time.

Thanks again.
