No, no religion, please !!

What's next? bush is the antichrist ?
lol, please don't invite Mr. Religion in here too .. pretty please.

I don't know who said it, but indeed, in the end, it's all about the dollar.
Maybe Bush actually cares for the Kuwaitees , but I think he cares more about the oil reserves.

After all, similar battles are fought all over the world (Ireland, Poland, Almost every east-european country -
killing more people every day than Saddam), but I don't see America (or any other country for that matters)
"taking a hit for the rest of the world" there.

Why ? because there's nothing to gain there.

Personally, I didn't think anybody would be stupid enough to use nuclear weapons again in this day and age
(not even an unstable man as Saddam), but that was before I saw two plains fly into the towers .. reality check

But we disgress: I think that keeping world-peace is a difficult job, and the US is doing a very good job there
(albeit Bush's a little bit to US-centered IMHO) - my admiration for those who are actually man enough to go in and make a difference.

I only asked what will be the reaction of the American people when they find out that
the same measures that are being taken to "protect" them today, will eventually turn around on them, restricting your every move for many years to come.

Granted, 8 years of presidency isn't long, but still a lot can be done in 8 years
(especially when pushed through under a veil of "anti-terrorism" laws).

Please do not consider any part of this post as a flame/troll, I respect the members of this board to much to do such a thing.
I only posted this here because I saw in previous discussion that I could get some mature feedback here.

Thanks! :thumb:

Everyone thinks that Bush makes all the calls. He has many cabinet members and military personal that tells him what to do. He is not making the decisions on Iraq by himself! He relies on the experts to tell him what to do. It has nothing to do with the presidency! And I do feel other contries like Cananda, Germany and France should take part militarily. Because like Prince said, they sit back and reap the benefits. They know they don't have to because they know we will. Do I think less of the people of these countries? Of course not! I heard an interesting radio conversation this morning with the former head of nuclear development with Iraq. He defected in 1994 after the gulf war. He said he defected because Saddam told him to make a nuclear bomb out of a French reactor site. HE said he was going to use it on American troops and his own people in the north. He also said that even if inspectors went in right now they would not find his weapons because they don't know where to look.......and they are off limits to them!!!He is to testify before congress today! And I aslo heard British Prime Minister Blair say they had proof that he tried to buy some material from a country in Africa! So how much more proof do you need?

I can't say you're wrong because you're not. What's missing is the other side of the coin. Being in the military myself I can assure you we have the biggest baddest fighting force in the world but still, we're only so big. We (our administration) have to pick and choose our battles. You said it yourself, "there's nothing to gain." That's a rather scewed way of stating it, how about "more damage would befall the world if Iraq/Iran/Afganistan/Kuwait/etc. were to go up in smoke?" Is it about oil? Hell yes it's about oil, that's what the world runs on. Notice I said "the WORLD". Sure, we use most of it but there's not a single country that's 100% solar powered. When people berate the Evil U.S. for using it's military might solely for the purpose of securing the world's oil supply I ask yeah, so? What's the problem? Try living without it.
