I was wondering what gets everyone fired up/motivated/inspired (specifically for the gym, but could be for anything)? About a half hour or so before i go to the gym, i blast Pantera/Metallica, maybe through some Pumping Iron on the TV, drink a protien shake/caffiene pill. By the time i leave, i am so fired up i almost can't control myself...

What gets you guys going? This could be anything...famous quotes, Bible scriptures, music, movie lines/scenes ANYTHING!

Some of you have some pretty impressionable and inspirational quotes as your signatures, i want everyone to be able to look at this thread and FIRED UP!!!!!!!!!!

Ex.

Rocky running through the streets of Philly.....

Arnold blowing shit up in Terminator.....

"Pain is temporary"

ANYTHING!!!

Here's some examples.....

*How about when "Big Louie" is screaming "Arnold Arnold Arnold Arnold" as he struggles with his last few reps military pressing about 275lbs in "Pumping Iron".

*Any Pantera song in existence

*The scene in "Predator" when they absolutely mow down the forest trying to get the predator after he kills one of Arnold's boys.

***Possibly my fav scene of all time in any movie....

End of Braveheart when the Brits and Scots are lined up on opposite ends of the field for what the Brits think is a full out surrender. William Wallace's boy (redhead big Mfer) starts the chant
"WALLACE. WALLACE. WALLACE. WALLACE."

The whole Scot army starts chanting, he throws Wallace's old sword and they charge towards the shocked and scared shitless Brits....

That scene is F*****n crazy, i want to kill someone!!

See my sig.

good one mudge....

here's a good one....

"Ya. You're right. That is a good weight.............For an old woman"- Dorian Yates, "Blood and Guts" (moments before he does his 1 all out set of bent over rows w/405)

i have two different kinds of inspiration...

#1 - the one that keeps me going when i am tired, or when i want to cheat and eat something fattening...i have a picture of myself up on my office wall, a big 11x17 of when i was huge. I weighed about 285 and i look like an apple with tooth picks for legs and arms. I hate that picture with a passion!

#2 - i love megadeath, diecast and hatebread. i listen to one or the other on the way to the gym!

When I was 16 I weighed 225 was chubby, weak as a kitten, and miserable. Remembering that time always gets me going.

Listening to heavy shit in the gym is always good, Danzig, Slayer, etc.

And possibly one of the most inspirational videos I have ever watched is Triple H, 'The Game'
 Sounds corny, I know. But just sit through it once and you'll want to get off your ass and hit the weights.

Whenever I want to get fired up...and this is going to sound kind of stupid...

I listen to Bill Goldberg's old theme music from the WCW...when he used to come out into the shower of sparks and scream his nuts off. That used to send chills down my spine and it still never fails to get me pumped up.

Either that or for lifting, Dorian's Blood and Guts...with his training partner screaming at him while he's barbell rowing 405 for reps. Unreal.

Ya Pony, you know what i'm talking about.....

Dorian's boy yelling "Let's go to war.........no mercy man, no prisoners"...that's the kinda partner i need!

You guys ever seen "The Program"....

The coach is flipping through possible offenses the opposing team may run on the big screen as the Defense watches. He calls to Alvin Mack (the captain)...

Coach: "Alvin, its 3rd and 7, what's your assignment"

Alvin:"O.K. Thunder Lion........Kill the quarterback"

(Coach flips screen to a new play)

Alvin:"Hit the tight end so hard his girlfriend dies"

(Flips to new play)

Alvin: "Kill EVERYBODY"

That's what i'm talking about!!

Vin Diesel gets me going

and remembering what it was like when a friend of mine won her pro card last year...makes me aim to get mine this coming year.

also i picture the copycattin wench that beat me for the overall last comp

So jbo,
youre trying to tell me you don't blast Pantera "Fukking Hostile" and watch Dorian Yates leg press over 1000lbs before you workout:D

That's great you use your competititon as motivation, if they only knew...they'd be scared:)

Pantera - YES (they split 5/2003), Dorians video nearly put me to sleep. His training partner is pretty motivating though, I like Ronnie's video better.

Actually some of my clients know and they are scared  it must be the "damn bitch" slippin out every now and again.

I do crank up some house tunes and watch Vin :funny:

Dorian almost put you to sleep? man mudge, you must be pretty tired. Ronnie's videos cool, he's a bad mofo too.

How about when Rocky is fighting the Ivan Drago in Rocky IV? He gets his ass beat most of the fight, but hangs in. In like the 10th round or so, he lands a shot that cuts Drago. Then Rock's trainer is yelling out "you cut him!!". From then on, they exchange blows...Until that last round, when they're going back and forth, Rocky lands 2 awesome hooks right before he knocks him out, and my spine tingles.

go to Mudge's sig and click on "need motivation" and read John Defendis' training articles, those will inspire you more than you can imagine. Other than that, the people around me that claim to be BB b/c they are drug abusers, that motivates me more than anything. My own desires give me all the motivation I need really, I don't rely on anything outside to get me going.

Sepultura - Attitude

Jimi Hendrix - Voodoo Child (slight return)
"Well, i stand up next to a mountain
And i chop it down with the edge of my hand
Well, i pick up all the pieces and make an island
Might even raise a little sand"

Rob Zombie - How To Make A Monster
In fact his entire super sexy swinging sounds cd and Music to strip by cd are in constant rotation cause I like that mix of metal with techno.

Heavy Metal, Drum & Bass, Jazz or darker Classical like Haydn.
Music is a supplement in itself while lifting.

Flexing in the mirror for a little while visualizing progress.

Just to name a few.

The whole movie Bloodsport, with Van Dam. I just wanna whoop some ass after I watch it.

My sig- I just repeat it to myself when things get tough.

fat people motivate me

How about great moments in sports history that chill the spine....

"Down goes Frazier........down goes Frazier"!

"Aaaaaaaaand now there's a steal by Bird. Gives it up to Dj and Dj lays it up and in. Oh my god this place is going crazy"!

"Now there's a steal by Havelchick, Havelchick stole the ball, its all over, its all over"!
