THE aristocratic owner of a spoilt dog dubbed one of "Britain's richest hounds" is offering his pet to take on best man duties at same-sex weddings.
Sir Benjamin Slade believes his dog Jasper, who has inherited a trust fund now worth $247,650, can help attract civil ceremonies to his Maunsel House country estate in Somerset.
The 51-year-old aristocrat admits he is desperate to host lucrative same-sex marriages at his 13th Century manor house.
He has asked his staff to post adverts of Jasper, his "gay" dog, on wedding websites in a marketing stunt to attract civil ceremonies.
"Jasper will give us the edge in attracting weddings. For one thing, he is gay himself," Sir Benjamin says.
"He is the perfect best man. He likes cleaning up leftover food, and I can promise couples that he will not make any embarrassing speeches.
"I should add that he has been castrated."
