Pedro Martinez headed to New York...

I can't believe that fuckin' Dominican asshole. I hope he sucks.

Why not go down in Boston history? Why not be one of the most beloved players to the MOST faithful fans in sports forever? What ever happened to LOYALTY to a team???????????????

Oh ya, two words.........free agency.

Pedro, i hope 12mil/year makes the entire difference in your life that 10mil/year couldnt possibly do. 2mil/year makes your life that much better, you fuckin greedy basterd.

FUCK YOU, Pete.

Not me I wouldn't take a two million dollar raise to work every fifth day. Looking for loyalty? Get a Dog! I guess Martinez is the first guy ever to leave town for more money.

Ok, jackass.

I guess i'm not greedy.
$2mil more/year, when i'd already be making $10mil/year, when i've already made over $100mil in my career, wouldn't make me change teams and go down as a legend in Boston.

And see if Pedro is anywhere nearly as good in the NL when he hasta bat. You can't go headhuntin' in that leauge, Pete. That'll be a case of the hunter becoming the hunted.

cant blame him..he just wants to make more money..in case u havent noticied..baseball is a business, not a game of loyalty

There is no reason for the Red Sox to have matched or topped the Mets offer. That would have been just plain dumb. I am not upset about Pedro leaving because frankly, I never thought he'd be back to be honest. The only thing that sickens me is that during all these negotations Pavano, Radke, Morris, etc. all fell of the market.

Hudson will not be traded within the American League especially with what the Dodgers have offered, and Randy Johnson will pitch nowhere but New York.

Sure Renteria cures some wounds, but a Pavano or Radke would have done more.

Bah....no big loss. I mean it's sad to see him go but he's not worth what he was asking IMO!

Flex- Look around, Being a "Legend" doesn't get you a cup of warm spit once you hang em up, and that's Mr jackass to you!

K, MR. Jackass (jk;))

last time i looked, being a "legend" DOES account for something.
You gonna tell me Shaq won't be thought of as a legend in LA cuz he brought the championship back to LA.
Or Bird in Boston for bringing it back to Boston.
I realize it won't make you any more $, i don't know, i guess i just don't get
nowadays greed.

I realize also that its not even the fact that we're losing Pedro, its just his greed that is angering me. He's out of his prime, and he's not worth that much money. Like SM said, i guess it would've just been nice to pick up a Pavano or a Radke in place. For now we got a Wells

Well said, bro.

I am sad to see him go. He's given us some great memories. However, he is not worth the 4 years/$56 million he is getting from the Mets...not anymore, anyway. The Sox will do something to fill the void. Plenty of guys want to play in Boston. The Sox can use that $14 million a year to sign Varitek, OC or Renteria, and another pitcher. The Sox will be fine.

I also agree with Flex: Fuck Pedro.

Flex, You're right Legends are something special in the town they played. I work out in the same gym as Manny Sanguillen (Pirates catcher in 70's) and he gets people walking up to him all the time while he's taking a piss. Mel Blount has a youth home,Mario owns the hockey team,Franco does commercials all over the place, Lynn Swann wants to be governor....

Precisely. Besides I think he's heading downhill anyway. I mean he's usually good for 7 innings but his pitches are just alright.

There is no loyalty in any sport now. Sad..............it's all about the money. That is what is wrong with sports. Pay them what the average Joe makes and you will have loyalty. I think sports in general will continue to go downhill. Kobe just ran off another guy in LA. Malone is pissed at him now and said he will not be back. I think the best thing LA could do is get rid of Kobe!

Yeah, did you hear what Malone said to his wife?

Kobe's Wife: So what are you hunting for cowboy? (Malone was wearing cowboy boots)

Malone: A small mexican woman!

Kobe's a tool who gets led around by the nose hairs by his wife.

Pedro is not worth the money he is going to get but it's not what your worth it's how good you can negotiate. I don't have anything bad to say about pedro and i'm a die hard St. Louis fan so get over it.

Are you kidding me? That is it?

I don't get what Kobe is so pissed about. If he loves his wife so much, why is he going around fucking other women?

The guy is a top ten pitcher in this league with or without a 97 mile per hour fastball. He knows how to pitch.

Yeah but this was after she asked and he did not respond. She repeatedly asked him and that is when he responded. I think she egged him on. From what I heard, Kobe took that as a hit on his wife.

I don't think Pedro will have the success he has had for a few reasons:

1. He's not the same Pedro he used to be (he's getting old and not as dominant)

2. He CANT headhunt/pitch inside, b/c in the NL if you do that, the hunter becomes the hunted.

good luck in NY, Pete (you dick)

I never said he was bad but he's not what he use to be and therefore not worth the money IMO.

Flex said:
oh ya, and

3. The Mets suck, so he won't get nearly the run support to help him win.

4. His shoulder tendons are reportedly 90% torn, which is why he will not allow the Mets to perform an MRI on him. If that is true, he'll be done in MLB in less than two years.
