Good morning all.

I began deadlifting about 2 months ago w/ my current split.
This is a 1RM at 305.

305 deadlift

I notice I round my upper back, but my lower is straight. I "feel" DLs in my lower back and never have thoracic troubles. But I suspect I need to improve this. Thanks all :)

ps dont make fun of my weight set, iron is iron :p

Obviously your back wasn't completely straight the entire way through. Try leading with your head a bit more and driving more with your legs.

1. Is it physically possible to round the upper back without rounding the lower, from a standing position? BKA, your form is way dangerous!

2. Its just too much damn weight. Period. At least right now..... if you can't keep your back in good form.

3. There's this element we need on this planet for various functions, one of which is metabolics, it's called Oxygen. Look into it! ;)

4. Your weights look funny! :D

I cringed watching your video, for real. I saw a 60+ year old lady doing Straight leg deads in the gym a few weeks ago with the same form! I bullshlt you not.

Drop the weight man. Seriously. Don't let your ego and testosterone drive you down that usual male road. And be sure you're driving with your hips and legs as well. You'd be lucky to only pull a muscle some time in the future. I know you will get similar advice as the day goes on.

Haha.....agree with the weights are pretty funny

leading with your head? As in flex the neck? I think its better to think about the neck being neutral. Keep it in line with your spine. Dont move the chin.

thanks gang. i honestly didnt know i was doing that. glad i taped myself.

take about 50lbs off the bar and work on your technique...

Ouch man. That deadlift looked painful. Take P-funks advice into consideration.

I would follow the advice given. You definitely need to increase total back strength and form before moving up to that weight. Also, one thing that has helped me, is to tighten your back before the lift, which will hopefully (if you are strong enough) keep you from arching your back that way.

Dont do that again, that hurt me thinking about that.... But you came to the right place searching for answers, many others would not have seeked advice

i'm putting a mirror in my room and cutting the weight.

Don't feel silly. Be thankful you came here before you seriously hurt yourself.

How much does a barbell weigh? 40lbs? 35lbs? 30lbs? I forgot.

my large weight discs are 50lbs. my bar is 17
