Hey everyone, recently i've been trying to focus on increasing my vertical and 40yrd dash time, and i've heard the best way to do this is plyometrics..

and i was wondering, whats the best way in input plyometrics into my current workout plan and can you "over due" plyometrics??

1) yes you can over due them.

it would be impossible to tell you how to use them effectively in your workout plan given the fact that we know nothing about you or your current level of fitness. The addition of plyometrics or shock training needs to be placed into a training routine at the right time in order to illicit the proper training effect and, most importantly, the body needs to have reached a certain level of preparation to be able to handle intense plyometrics.

Richie,

There is a thread floating around (should be on the first page here) started by Big G, regarding recommended books. Any of the training books that I recommended will go over plyometrics and their integration into an overall program.

I royally fucked up the ligaments in my knee with an overzealous plyometrics program for soccer. It was a hard lesson and it took me 1.5 years to recover.

You should focus on developing overall strength and stability in your legs and only then should you gradually introduce plyometrics. Athletes Performance have a really good series of sport specific programs for this.
