Ok, usually after I workout I wait till I get home for my post-workout shake. And I usually have cyto-gainer in milk. Is this not a good idea since cyto-gainer only has complex carbs? And should I not use milk because the transport of the nutrients would be slower than if I used water?

I've been wanting to have something ready at the gym so I can down it immediately after my workout. I was thinking about mixing unflavored protein with either gatorade or powerade. Are the simple carbs in the gatorade/powerade what I need after a workout?

Cytogainer is fuckin-eh. Good stuff, I love it. What flavor do you use? I take cookies& cream.

Id suggest using it with water though, as the fats in milk would slow absorbtion.

Like you mention, I take mine when I get to my truck for my drive home. I leave a little thermos box in the truck w/an ice pack, it works out perfect.

Id keep that up. :thumb:

I use the cookies & cream as well.

Don't you need simple carbs for recovery after a workout though? Thats why I was thinking gatorade would work better. Not to mention I hate the way cyto gainer tastes in water, unflavored protein in a sports drink is much more pleasing. :D

Some carbs after working out are good but remember Gatorade is LOADED with sugars. Drink your protein drink and then get home and have some rice or some whole grain bread, wont take much but its the carbs your muscles need right after working out. Works for me.

Personally - I would drop the ctyo-gainer and keep the milk (as long as it is skim) then I would add a banana and some WPI. This would be easy to take with you to the gym (milk + WPI in a shaker + 1 banana).

Milk (if it is skim) will not decrease uptake time substantially and it is a REALLY good post-workout substance to consume (highly anabolic, insulinogenic, highly anti-catabolic, good source of carbs and protein). The banana is a good source of vitamins, minerals, water, anti-oxidants and carbohydrates and will also help your recovery.

These are MUCH more beneficial than gatorade - You don't "need" simple carbs after a workout and you certainly do not need these types of things. Not unless you have just run a marathon/half marathon.
