I have to leave the gym tomorrow by 5 am and can't use the blender that early in the morning because it will wake up my roommate. Is it ok for me to pre-mix a shake with whey, yogurt, banana tonight, and then put it in the fridge and drink it in the morning? the protein I know won't disappear or anything but it will still be high quality right? I'll prob pre-make one & refrigerate it tonight for post workout too... is that ok?

I mix all my shakes a day in advance. If I don't use milk... even longer.

Wont the protein etc settle? I always carry a small blender & cup in my work bag so I can make a shake pretty much anywhere that has a plug socket and a sink

Before the blender was invented, about 1990, guys as old as myself (I guess) would put stuff in a glass coke bottle - put the cap back on with pliers, and shake while dancing The Twist.

I suggest you do the same.

I do this every evening for my pre-workout shakes. Although I add my protein in the morning (I keep a serve in a little tupperware container by the fridge - so all I do is tip it in).

But oats + banana + yoghurt in the fridge overnight = yummy... Add whey + creatine and it is REALLY tasty...!! :nanner:

Jim, what the hell have you been smoking?

so Emma, do you blend the yogurts, oats, and banana the night before with water or something? I'm guessing you use plain yogurt, how much water do you add when you blend this? Or ice cubes maybe? then in the morning you add the whey and blend again? or just stir?

What I do is I get a shaker bottle - in the bottom I add oats, then I cover with yoghurt (yes, it is plain, fat-free stuff - I actually make it myself). Then I add in fruit - at the moment I am on a banana and mango kick (and what I do is I blend these up and then just stir them in).

Then I put that in the fridge.

I then weigh out my protein and creatine and put it in a little tupperware container next to the fridge.

In the morning (yay for 4.20am starts) - I get up, grab the shaker and tip in the protein and creatine. I then add some water (up to the top of the bottle) and shake.

To consume - drink stuff off the top and use a spoon to eat the oats.

The oats go soft when soaked over night - so they are fine to eat (not heavy on the stomach).... However - as you suggest - you could also blend the oats the night before if you wished.

Also - If you wanted something more 'shakey' - then, yes, you could add ice in the mornings (instead of water) and blend it in a blender (if you put the fruit into the freezer overnight you could also add it at this stage - still frozen - and it would make the shake really thick too... :nanner:

wow emma that is quite the method! Sounds interesting! LOL. Maybe I will try it.... thanks!
