Does it occur also during between your sets in the gym? Or it occurs only when you are resting, as in not working out at all?

It occurs while resting in between sets as well. This is one of the reasons that longer rests allow you to use more weight.
 
Also why creatine is such an effective supplement. You break those poor phosphates from the ATP chain when your muscles contract. Creatine simply provides you with an excess of phosphates to jump in cover their fallen comrades.

Rest+extra phosphates = :thumb:

I was going to mention this as well but got too lazy, but I'm glad it was covered. ATP breaks down to ADP, then creatine lends a phosphate group so the body can resynthesize ATP.
 
well i read this stuff on the personal trainer manual.. just wondering when does it occur.. thanks anyway.. appreciate all the replies..
