With the crazies on this forum, I may regret it in the morning by posting this.
I have been diagnosed with prostrate cancer.
ANd as an FYI: No, I do not blame steroid use in my youth for this. Prostrate cancer just happens, no one really knows why.
Anyway, I am more than likely go the non-surgical route and do the radiation with hormones. The IGRT radiation has just as good of a track record as surgery with less chance of having to wear a diaper the rest of my life.
What is my concern is losing muscle when on the hormones. The hormones will shut down my test production and "starve" any stray cancer cells the radiation may miss. De[ending on test results, the hormone therapy could go as long as two years.
The doc has encouraged me to keep working out through the process. This may sound stupid. But without test, how is it possible to maintain muscle, not to mention have any growth? I did ask the oncologist this and he blew me off with "You shouldn't worry about that."
I am just confused and needed to say something to people that understand the concern.
