Protein bar - acceptable for a meal?

I've found a delicious protein bar...is this good to eat for one of my meals?

Cals - 320
Protein - 32 g
Carb - 32 g
Fat - 10g
Sat. Fat - 6g (little high...)
Sugars - 4g
Sugar Alcohol - 22g (what the hell is this, btw?)

This is meaningless without an ingredient list.

And it is also meaningless without knowing what else you eat every day... If all your other meals are great slabs of cheesecake then whether or not you have 1 protein bar for another of your meals is going to mean squat.

And sugar alcohols are 'artificial sweeteners'... Many bars try to get around having a high carb content by using them and stating that they are 'non-impact carbs' - but in reality they are absorbed to some extent by the body so it is a load of bull... Basically - I try to stay away from these.

Protein bars in general I stay away from - I always recommend to make your own... But failing that, go for something such as Tri-o-plex (that is, something where you know what most of the ingredients on the label are). ;)

if your on a 6 meal diet, maybe add a banana with it or something..

but still you should never use that as a meal replacement.

I say no to bars, u shouldnt even eat them as a snack.
Its either high in suger or sugar alcohol, or got sum other shit in it. If u need to eat it at school ro something make a sandwich or take brownrice/chicken/broc in a tupperware, thats what I do for school.
 
Here I thought they were somewhat healthy... . I guess if I want to grow, I'd better opt for real food:(
 
Not necessarily - some are ok, others are not... sometimes they work in diets, other times they do not. It all depends on the bar, your goals, your total daily intake and just how anal you are. ;)

But... Anything with lots of ingredients that end in something such as "Di-methyl-polysteronerasterate" or anything that has a series of numbers as ingredients is probably not the best for you...

Also - stay away from anything with HFCS or trans-fats (hydrogenated vegetable oils).
 
I would never use any supplement of any kind to replace a meal. There is simply nothing better than good clean food IMO.
