I am trying to eat about 175g protein every day. I lift weights four or five times a week. I weight 185 and have a lean build. How do you weight lifters manage to eat enough protein?? On days that I TRY to get extra protein, I only get about 140 to 150g. And that is with eating high protein food, a protein shake, and a protein bar. When I do get a lot of protein, I walk around all day feeling full. Just curious what you guys do. I really don't want to start taking a 2nd shake. Too many extra calories.

Today will be a good protein day, and I am still only looking at 140 to 150g. I am not hungry at all, but it's about time for lunch #2 (blah). Here's today's food intake:

Protein shake (55g)
Clif Bar (10g) Not a protein bar, just a snack.
4oz. swordfish (20-25g)
1 cup rice pilaf (5 to 10g)
4oz. chicken (20g)
6oz. salmon (25g-30g)

This is a typical food day for me, with this food getting spread out between 9AM and 6PM Any thoughts?? Thanks.

What i do is mix in some Whey with my MRP's. Currently they have roughly 40grams per shake. I will add another 20 from the whey. This seems to be working for me.

You get what you put in.

I weigh 110 and usually take in 180g protein a day, without using protein bars or shakes. I keep my carbs kinda low/moderate so that I have room for all that protein

I always add soy protein isolate to my morning oats. Usually have 6 egg whites, a can of tuna and a chicken breast/turkey each day. Often I cycle these three proteins for variety, eating 2 breasts one day, then 2 cans tuna the next day, etc.

Why not another shake? A straight whey shake is only about a 110 cal. I think your caloric intake for your size is a bit on the low side anyway. Substitute a met-rx or mesotech bar for the clif bar. I didnt see any fresh fruit or raw veatables in there. You need MORE FIBER! You may feel full because trying to digest straight protein all day is hard on the digestive process. Try using psyllium husk if you're not a salad lover. Getting the additional protein should be easy, but definety get more fiber in your diet. FORE!

Thanks for the input, guys. I do actually manage to eat my fair share of produce (I love fruits and veggies). I agree that I need more fiber. Maybe I'll go with the 2nd shake in the evening, or at least be more consistent with eating protein bars.

BroadStreet: I'm playing 36 holes this weekend. WOO HOO!
