I'm curious how many people use pull-up/chin-ups as part of their back workout? The reason for the question is the new gym I'm thinking about joining doesn't have pull-up bar or an assisted machine and my old gym had both. I always tried to do a few to see if my strength was increasing. Will my back workout suffer without these exercise. By the way the gym also doesn't have a roman-chair for leg raises.:(

I would recommend hanging knee raises over roman chairs anyway...as for not having a chin bar...your solution is an easy one...do pulldowns with a regular grip as well as an inverse grip...you should be fine.

Pull ups rock, if I do pull downs I use a hammer machine... Some may or may not like that, I happen to like it - but I do NOT like the cable pulldowns and dont really like cables for much of anything, personal preference.

Great news they have an assited pull-up machine I must of missed it :) I also saw someone doing hanging leg raises using a squat rack with bars at the top.

If you have a Smith Machine you can put the bar at the top and use it for pull-ups, chins, and hanging knee raises.

See, the smith machine is good for somethin'.......oh yeah, it also makes a great place to hang cloths:)

P-Funk....too funny....it's also good for squats:p

:thumb: I started doing my chinups on one of those, but have since "graduated" to a regular ol' chinup bar.

lmao.........i wouldn't know anything about that.:)

The WG pullups are an essential part of my back day, I love them. Much more productive then the pulldowns that most guys do IMO

As a part of a Blitz workout I do once a month.
I will do pull-ups, chin-ups, dips, squats and deadlifts.

Monster workout, crazy compound movements.
I love pull-ups. you cant (shouldnt) live without them

:finger:

Indeed, one shouldn't. They help you build tremendous strength for lat pulldowns, t bar rows, sitting cable rows plus added grip strength. There's really too many benefits to list. Luv 'em. :)
