How many of you work Pushups and Dips into your Chest work out? Do you think they are of any use? Should you do them at the beginning of your work out or at the end as a finishing exercise? What types of sets vs. reps do you use?

Thanks,

You get what you put in.

I did them with my workout today. I did them after I did my chest, then shoulders... I did 3 sets x 10,10,8. Very tough after you do 9 sets of chest, then 9 sets of shoulders. I would suggest finishing off with dips. As with pushups.

I use push-ups as a warm-up exercise for my chest & shoulder work-out. Sometimes I finish off a work-out with push-ups as well.

Dips, don't them do very often because they hurt my shoulders.

I do the dips as part of a tri set at the end of my chest work out sometimes. Every other week.
As for the push-ups I do them with those handle things to get a stretch at the end of a work out or a couple day after my chest work out. If those handle things are not available I do really light sets of dumbbells for the stretch.

I find dips can either be a great experience, or a painful one. At my old highschool, they had nice dip bars, and I could crank out quite a few with no pain. The gym Im a member at now has a stupid one, and hurts me. I hate it. I kicked its ass.

I always do Dips at the end. I find them a great way to really hit your chest, shoulders, and tris.

I warmup with pushups and do weighted dips at the end of a chest workout (not every workout though).

I occasionally do dips at the end of my chest/triceps workout. They are harder than hell after working your chest and triceps. I can usually squeeze out sets of 8, 6, and 6. If I do them first, I can do a lot more of them. I hurt my shoulder doing them a couple of months ago and have not tried them since.

I do not do push-ups.
