does anyone know what percentage of your bodywieght you use to do a push up. i know it might be a dumb question but i want to know so that i know kinda how much weight im using when i add weiight on my back.
Put yourself on a scale, it will depend on your height.
Its not very much at all nor is it linear. Since the world record is well into the thousands, and even a weakling can do a great deal of pushups, its a waste of time as far as building size or strength is concerned IMO.
60% of your bodyweight is the ballpark number I've seen a couple places(which i can't remember).
Definitely not useless though. Its an easy way to do something while you're travelling or a good warmup exercise for your shoulders and chest.
