Every tuesday is my back and bicep workout, and what I normally do is train upper back first, followed by biceps, THAN lastly lower back doing deadlifts.

So is training uder this Upper Back, Biceps, Lower Back order OK or do you guys find that to be an ineffective thing to do?

I don't think its a problem, I do deadlifts last for back but I do all back first then bi's last.

You should generally perform the exercises that require the most effort, concentration, and muscle mass first.

Complex problems have simple, easy to understand, wrong answers.

Like Scotty, I do all the exercises for one muscle group all together but if you are finding this schedule to be effective for you then more power to you bro! If it works for you, that's all that matters because progress is the name of the game.

I used to do deads last, then moved them to first and have made better gains. My thinking is that it would be like on chest day. Which do you do first, flies of bench press?

I do Flies only once in a few weeks, and if i do it, they'll definitely be after the regular bench press.

What I'm catious about the Deadlifts being last exercise to perform is because whenever I train my upper back, my Biceps gets involve too. However, if I train my lower back directly after UB, than my biceps will get the opportunity to gain too much rest, and my later on Bicep Training won't be able to get the maximum efect. Am I worrying too much?

If your biceps are getting too involved when doing back, which is very common, try using a thumbless grip. You might have to go down a little in weight because you won't have the assistance of you thumbs but you can target the back more effectively! I've been using this technique for years on numerous exercises and have seen a tremendous difference in muscle mass because I'm focusing more on the intended muscle more so than the biceps.

Ah...that thumbless grip seems to be a good idea! ! Thank you everyone for your help :=)

as we all know, deadlifts are a great movement but if done improperly can cause alot of damage. the deadift works so much more than just your lower back and takes a lot of energy to complete the movement. I feel that if you do them last in you workout you will not be able to put everything into them as your whole back will already be tired and i think you greatly increase the risk of injury.

I always do deads first for the reasons stated by seymore and supreme. But as long as you feel good about it and are making the gains then keep at it...maybe mix it up and see how you feel.
