Hi all, i may seem like a retard asking this but im age 14 and i work out 3-4 times a week. My older bro says every 2-3 months just take a week break off... so i did take a week off as it would benefit me greatly because im only 14 , but i didnt stop every thing... i did like pushups and just pullups no weight lifting.. now the question could my strength have decreased in that 1 week or am i good?

You will be fine. Don't worry about it. A break is good every few months.

Unless you ate like shit that week off!

Jk... you should be fine.

i take a week off every now and then... it's not usually planned though... life just gets too hectic but i always feel rejuvinated when i get back...

I take a week off every 6-8 weeks and come back stronger.

Rest is where you recover, recovery means growth, and growth means improvement.

First, you are never a retard for asking questions about training.:clapping: Even simple questions like this can bring you knowledge that will help you for the rest of your life in the gym.:thumb:

Rest is every bit as important as the workouts them selves. Actually more important. Your body makes its gains during the rest after the workout. Now as far as complete breaks go. These are important. You cannot continually punish your body and keep making gains.:finger: You need to periodize your training and workout in cycles which include rest periods between cycles and less intensive cycles. Do some research on periodized training to learn how it works. There are many members here who offer first hand experience, take advantage of this information.

But rest and recovery are the key to proper training and best results.:D

My mate does a heavy pushup, situp, and other exercises regime every night without fail

I lift weights every second day at home and do situps

Would it benefit him to take a break every second day, or me to do it every day?
Or would we both benefit from a different break system?
