I was diagnosed with Diabetes a little over six months ago, I am type 2 (I take medication: Metformin) have radically changed my diet and have been working out 4-5 times a week, for approx 6 months.

My numbers are very good, my last blood workup showed my A1C at 5.6 (below 6.0 is considered good) Cholesterol is 165, BP 110/70.

I will be 64 years old this Sunday, the 13th. I a m 5' 10 and I am two lbs away from my target weight of 170 lbs down from 196 (two months ahead of target).

Ok, here is my question ... I feel great, look younger than my years etc. but up to now I have been burning off fat, getting stronger and more defined.

Now I want to bulk up a bit ... I need to add a lot more protein and up the caloric intake. Mussle mass has been proven to absorb a lot more Glucose than non-muscle mass ... this is good!

I will see my Nutritionist in about three weeks but wanted to tap into the "knowledge base" here .... anyone have a take on what I can do as far as protein shakes/suplimments etc that will let me build more muscle without jeopardizing my Blood sugar or Cholesterol?

Tnanks in advance for any help/advice! :D
