I've been lifting for many years and I have never incorporated cardio into my workouts. I have gained good muscle size and strength (through lifting and diet), but like everyone I'm always looking for progress. Having said that, does anyone know if cardio actually contributes in any way to better muscle development (directly or indirectly)? Everyone seems to be big on cardio these days but I just don't see any appeal in it and I feel great with out it. Thoughts?

Prolonged low-intensity cardio is detrimental to muscle hypertrophy. I am of the opinion, however, that HIIT training MAY be somewhat beneficial towards muscular hypertrophy. Specifically sprinting.

I used to hate cardio, still do for the most part.

But I will say this, 10mins of skipping in the morning (6-8 min tabata) makes me feel 10x more awake and alert throughout the day.

From experience, I last more on my lifting workout when I do cardio during my non-workout days. I don't huff and puff as much after the heaviest set. I say, it does work and it does have some benefit.

I posted somthing similar in another thread in favor of cardio. Got to have it to some degree, HIIT/Tabata are my favorites- effective and 0 to Wiped out in less than 10min if done right; and you'd be surprised the stamina you can build with such little durations a few times a week. CV endurance is a need bottom line IMO, as I also said in another post its FANTASTIC if you're a awe inspiring physical specimen but if you're out of breath walking up a flight of stairs makes the image laughable to me. X brought up other valuable aspects in his post as well:thumb:
