i have been reading a lot of stuff on this board about certain companies and the different types of whey protein (isolate etc.) i baseically work out three to four times a week. My trainer (who is older and really not up on all of this suggested when we started that i get some whey protein in me after i work out. I went ouit and purchased ON whey and i take a scoop and a half of that with vitargo some milk and a table spoon of peanut butter. My question is that i am reading some people have different thoughts about the compaines who create the whey and what whey is the best. So the question is i am looking to bulk up and gain strength is ON the best choice for me or should i look to get something else..

Thank you

If you could also elebrate what the differences are between regular ON whey (which i take) and isolate that i have read about thank you

I think that both Whey are the same except that isolate has no flavor meaning just pure Whey vs ON 100% Whey which has flavors to pick from which comes with more than just Whey itself (sugar, etc.).. I am not sure on that though

EDIT: Also isolate Whey costs a bit more than ON 100% Whey

The primary difference between isolate and concentrate is that the isolate is more pure. In other words, isolate contains more protein with less fat and lactose per serving. Based on whose figures you go by, whey isolate usually contains between 90-94% protein while whey concentrate has a protein ratio of 70-85%. Thus isolate is more expensive.

You're giving too much thought to this. For the most part, protein is protein. ON is a great brand that has good taste, mixes well, and is priced fairly. Don't waste your money on expensive protein powders.

agreed. ON is a solid company. i take 100 gold whey. solid protein at a reasonable price. no sense in falling for four page ads in a magazine.

Isolate is more expensive but is more biodigestible. Which means they are more readily digested by the body. This is the kind of protein powder you want to drink just before, during and after your workouts when your muscles need the protein fast.

Other times, you can use the more cheaper forms of whey protein powders... IMHO...

Best thing you can do is some searches of logs on these products on boards also check out ingredents on google and then you can make your choice based on your needs:thumb:
