Quick Olympic bar question

I was just wondering what an "Olympic Bar" weighs? I think that is what they call it. I have heard a couple different numbers and I want this cleared up.

Good point No matter what the total is, I know it is going to increase every week

I guess I should be stupid and ask "what is an olympic bar?" I just want to make sure we are on the same page. A pic would be beneficial. This also gave me a chance to use the tard smile.

Ok I am using an olympic bar for sure. But now I have been told 2 different weights for the 7' bar. I know it doesn't really matter but it would still be nice to be certain so I can compare before and after totals.

I'm probably the wrong one Ecto, I thought the standard Olympic bar was 8 foot, and the short one was 7.
I guess its 7 and 6, sorry to confuse you.

My olympic bar is 45 pounds and its a 7 footer, I dont know that I've even ever seen an 8 foot bar???
