What is a good replacement for caffeine? I trying to quit smoking and along with that is coffee since I associate coffee and cigs together....They say caffeine helps triggers the nicotine so if anyone can help I will be very thankful........

Aspirins.. Depending on how addicted your body is to caffeine, you may get withdraws (headaches)

Funny for me in quitting smoking I found caffeine to be the substitute that worked. Since I started drinking coffee after quitting. ;)

I will try the aspirin and see if that works thanx....Hey shutupantra1n how where your withdrawals from smoking?

It's all in your head dude. It took me a long time. I started severely young due to an early start on alot of crap. It takes 943287592847 times before you finally let go. It's like letting go of a childhood toy. You gotta replace it with something and grow up. You will always have your days but you just learn to get by. ;) There are websites you can go to for help but I always thought the more I pondered on it the worse it made it. Rather think of other things.

Isn't it true that you become physiclly addicted to nicotine ? How can that be in your head ?

 I'm going through caffiene withdrawls right now, and it's brutal, had a headache for four days, I was a big time diet coke drinker and taking 1 or 2 caffeine pills a day. I'm ready to rip my head off:mad: I can't sleep at night either, which is odd, you would think I'd be sleeping better without all that caffeine. Stick it out it will get better, I've gone through this before and was stupid enough to start taking it again, but this is definately the last time I'm going to go through this!!!

If you drink alot of water you can rid your body of the actual nicotine in 3 days or so. That's why cold turkey is easier than all the gum and crap. The other stuff adds nicotine to your body and drags out the physical addiction but it's not enough to really cure the craving. If you quit cold turkey, after about three days the rest is the psych and emotional part.

A recent review* undertaken by Health Canada has considered the numerous studies dealing with caffeine and its potential health effects. It has re-confirmed that for the average adult, moderate daily caffeine intake at dose levels of 400-450 mg/day is not associated with any adverse effects.

Though not a substance like nicotine or caffeine, quiting BITING YOUR NAILS is the same damn thing... I've stopped "for real this time" god knows how many times.

Im currently attempting to stop again. Four days and counting.

I know it sounds funny compared to stuff that is seriously bad for you... but it's a nasty nasty ugly hideous habit and I'm all grown up now. I have to let go of this once and for all...

Anyway to get back to the point - it IS all mental. It is in your head.
