I have started to do side lying rear laterals instead of conventional rear laterals. I am amazed how a little variation makes a big difference. I experience a greater stretch ind my posterior deltiod and more tension throughout the entire movement. Is this stretch OK or is it wise to limit the range of movement across the body?

I set up a platform consisting of two benches. I make room for my arm to hang down by setting the benches slightly offset.

The standard rear lateral seems to be the most popular among fitness BB enthusiasts.

I wonder why?

What do you think of rear laterals VS side lying rear laterals?

i use to do the lying rear but for a new variation i do standing rear laterials with the pec deck macine. I think the strech is fine as long as you have control of the weight you are using.

I personlly get the greatest "feel" from using the bent cable laterals for rear delts. You can really go slow, feel the constant tension, and get a good peak contraction.
