America! Fuck yeah!
I do a lot of interviews for my job and these people generally call my cell phone. Is there any adapter or anything out there that would allow me to record the call?

How about this?

If you want the best quality your going to need to use a landline and something that is known as a Hybrid in the radio business. All it does is bring a phone line to line level so you can record it. If that isn't an option then all you need is a portable recorder with an 1/8" to 1/8" cable running from your cellphone to the recorder.

Something I could buy at say, a Fred Meyer or Radio shack? Best buy?

Nope.

If you need to stick to your cellphone, then get this.

If you can use a landline then get this.

They aren't cheap but then again, if you are important enough to be doing interviews on a regular basis, I am sure $300 for something so important isn't too steep.

Would it work to have a mini-tape recorder hooked up to my cell phone jack?

But a digital recorder (they're not that expensive), but a 1/8" Y-splitter, a male-to-male 1/8" wire. Hook the Y-splitter into your phone. Plug the male-to-male 1/8" wire into the input on your recorder. Then plug both your headset and the recorder into the Y-splitter.

That would work, but usually when you connect something to the audio jack on a cell phone, it cuts off all talking and listening abilities through the built in mic and speaker. Do what DOMS said as the most feasible alternative to a Hybrid.

Are you going to be sending these convos over the internet? Or just storing them for later use?

If it's that important to business get a small laptop and modem card, use the laptop for those important calls you need to record...

Just storing them for notes
