I wanted to get some feedback about refeeds on NHE.

I am doing NHE which is basically Atkin's style eating all the time, except every 3rd night and then 4th night (Wednesday and Sunday nights, for me) I am going to be refeeding. According the book Faigin recommends that you the last 2 meals of the day you eat a minimum of 60g of carbs in each.

But honestly, I don't see how 2 high-carb meals are going to do much for muscle glycogen or leptin levels. So I wanted to get some opinions.

His book is a little outdated, because he says that fat should be kept moderate. Of course, now, we know that fat should be kept to a bare minimum when refeeding, and one should focus on high-carb foods like bagels, pasta, cereal, etc.

My sentiments exactly Aggies1ut.

Monstar, try following a diet like it is written for a change, then maybe you will see results.

Jodi, I am sure that you realize the diet is outdated. Rob recommends in the refeeds you keep your fat moderate. We all know that refeeds are most effective in keeping fat minimal.

In NHE Rob says that a typical refeed meal would be a huge bowl of pasta, with a few scoops of ice-cream at the end. Tomato sauce has fat, and the ice-cream of course is loaded with fat.

And so far my results have been phenomenal, I have dropped a substantial amount of water weight and flab in the first 10 days.

It's a different kind of refeed. The moderate fat is to slow down the insulin spike. So no, it is not that outdated.

It's not a "refeed" either. It's a two-meal carb load. The diet isn't written to focus around leptin manipulation.
