im looking at a buying a belt and was wondering which would be better for squats. ive been searching for over an hour now and not much has come up with a comparison of the 2. im looking at a size medium and both the belts (regular and lever) are .25" thick and 4" tall but the regular belt tapers down to 2" at the buckle.

what are the facts and your opinions about the 2 types of belts

You want the belt that does not taper.

This is a good belt:

Elite FTS

I'm not affiliated with EliteFTS, but I have a belt from them, and it is still in awesome condition (I've had it for about 5 years).

Keep in mind, a powerlifting belt, like I one I posted, is meant to put on very tightly. It isn't to be worn in between sets (unless you want your guts crushed).

I used the lever belt for competitions (more precise fit) but never wore it during workouts unless I was going over 85% of max. The EliteFTS belt (above) looks like a good belt for all around working out.
