Oh I honored them numb-nuts. But exactly where do you fit it with that honor? What years did you serve? What hostile regions did you serve in? No doubt the answer is "none" because Im afraid the "douchebags" nowdays are mostly north of the border.

Frankly I quit going up there. I got tired of every fucking canuck trying to politisize every conversation and badmouthing my country. Its even worse in the french speaking part of Canada, where the people never learned to bathe and you gotta hold your fingers to your nose the whole way thru. Im personaly sick of the shitty attitudes of Canadians.

Its a shame really as the place has a very proud history. Per capita they paid a higher price then any of the allies for the triumph of Democracy in WWll. Now however? Ironically the four dead Canadians in Afghanistan were caused by an American pilot, not the first incident where Americans have accidentally killed Canadian soldiers on Allied missions. One of the worst was during the Normandy landings of World War II, where an American bomber dropped his load short and killed 160 Canadian and Polish soldiers on the beach.

There have been other near-misses in Afghanistan. During one operation where Canadian soldiers were working with Yanks in a search mission, an American pilot mistook their coordinates and nearly bombed them again.

Since Canada's military comes from its civilian population, they represent their nation in the same manner that Americans represent our own. It is always an embarassment when friendly fire causes the deaths of an ally's troops - and for those mistakes alone, we owe their military respect and their forgiveness.

I'm sure America apologizes for Rich's remarks - abortion wasn't legalized here until after he was born.

Since you have no military experience, nor I suspect do any of you, so I guess its up to me to inform you of this. "And I was going to bring it up but didnt out of respect for the dead". You dont cut and run from a fight thats right over it. Canada vastly cut down its numbers of troops in theatre after that tragic accident and has been whining about it ever since. Is this the representation of their nation? If it is then we dont need it! For years they were calling for the railroading of those USAF pilots who were tragically involved. Tho they will never fly military planes again Im glad to see they werent completly fucked over it.

Because nobody, except for the victims familys, felt worse about the accident then Americans did!

And why is it USAF that makes these terrible mistakes? Because we usually make up about 95% of the war planes in a modern conflict. Or in Afghanistan its more like 100%. Sadly there have been many other instances of fratracide that have nothing to do with warplanes. It could be helicopters, artillary,naval fire, friendly small arms fire...........it happens.

And since it did happen Canada drastically cut back its deployment in Afghanistan and what is there now is stationed near Kabul far from the beaten path where the war is still going on. Well.......as long as it frees up Yanks to do the real fighting I guess its making a contribution. Im sure they rather be chasing Al Queda with our boys up in the mountains and its not their fault their country is ran by a bunch of holier then thou pussy's.

Yep, friendly fire happens - in fact, it happened during the Persian Gulf War - 35 of the 146 American combat deaths were attributed to friendly fire.

Canadian troops assigned to NATO frequently won war games conducted during the Cold War - but maybe your right - if they'd just explode their own nuclear bombs, militarize their whole nation, and manufacture some missiles aimed right at your house, they could match the level of paranoia their American neighbors possess.
