Can you guys give me a good comparable exercise to dumbell flys? I seem to be getting some shoulder issues doing it just like another poster here.

maybe try some cable crossovers for a little while

i have shoulder issues too with dumbell flyes...now i do pec deck machine exclusively...and it does a great job...anytime i need a little change i hit cable flyes...

not a big fan of the pec deck myself

cable crossovers do however make a nice addition to a chest routine.

cable flies work well for me i'm not going to stop doing them because some moron on the internet thinks they are "girlie exercises"

Yup I agree. I did some cable flys today for the first time in a while and they were great. I did them so that they hit everything from my shoulders to bis to chest.

They are all "fluff" exercises. I don't bother. I don't really have a chest though so what do I know.

Some people just love to hate

I'd go for cable crossovers, a great exercise.

After Mr Lam and I are done breaking all the world records in power lifting we always do some cable flys.

 blaaahhhhh i say girlie men :D

Do what you can without hurting your shoulder... people get hurt by doing movements that are bad for them because they dont want to look like a "girly man" to their buddies with no sense. If hardtrainers pic in his avatar is any indication he needs a tip or two on chest excercises himself.

I am still waiting for you to follow up on your definition of "fluff" exercises, and in which I think you mean isolation and not compound. But Dumbbell Flyes are isolation as well, in fact according to exrx.net, Standing Cable Flyes ("cable crossovers") hit more areas such as the lats & delts than do dumbbell flyes. So what I am trying to say to you, not in a attacking way, but in an informative way. Read up before you make assumptions.

Hardtrainer, I do flys and cable machine every chest workout. I find it works really well.

Maybe you should try it. If you already have and find it's pants you are probably not doing it correctly. If thats the case, ask someone for pointers

James
