If he beat him as a self defense, it is seems justifiable. If he enjoyed beating beating him up, that is another story. Because of the intentions involved, these two are not the same.

I would think if he actually enjoyed it the guy would be in a coffin and not jail
you are correct they are not the same! one is survival and the other pleasure,
in the end both actions supply dopamine to the receptors...giving you a RUSH!!

Because of the intentions of the robber and the fact that he was willing to use a gun...any amount of beating he got was justified.

I agree with your kindheartedness...and once held the door for an armed robber so he could leave...and the cops asked me why I didn't shoot the fucker... I said, my life and his life are both more valuable than money. When I did have to actually pull a trigger...it was to stay alive, not just because it was justified.

But with that said, still...if we cross that line, then whatever happens to us is deserved. There really is always McDonalds.

Certain lines...if we cross them...then whatever happens to us is simply our own fault. I remember once, I was broke as fuck, transmission out in two vehicles, no way to get to work, a very long one way commute. I had serveral THOUSAND dollars of legally acquired ummm products in my possession that to sell would have been illegal. People asked to buy them... it was tempting...but I had to say no.

This robber has no right to complain as does no one else who makes the wrong choice and then suffers the consequences for it.
