Officer Tim Singer ordered King and his two passengers to exit the vehicle and lie face down on the ground. The two passengers complied and were taken into custody without incident. King initially remained in the car. When he finally did emerge, he acted bizarrely: giggling, patting the ground, and waving to the police helicopter overhead. King then grabbed his buttocks. Officer Melanie Singer momentarily thought he was reaching for a gun. She drew her gun and pointed it at King, ordering him to lie on the ground. King complied. Singer approached King with her gun drawn, preparing to make the arrest.

At this point, Sergeant Stacey Koon intervened and ordered Officer Melanie Singer to holster her weapon. LAPD officers are taught not to approach a suspect with a drawn gun, as there is a risk of the suspect gaining control of it if they get too close. Koon then ordered the four other LAPD officers at the scene?Briseno, Powell, Solano and Wind?to subdue and handcuff King in a manner called a "swarm", a technique that involves multiple officers grabbing a suspect with empty hands. As the officers attempted to do so, King physically resisted. King rose up, tossing Officers Powell and Briseno off his back. King then struck Officer Briseno in the chest.

If that account is truthful then I'm surprised King didn't die in 1991. Cops have killed citizens for less. They gave King an additional twenty years to live.

At Pacifica Hospital, where King was taken for initial treatment, nurses reported that the officers who accompanied King (including Wind) openly joked and bragged about the number of times King had been hit.

no, but where i live we have abo’s, these are halfcast, not full black like out western Australian parts. I got set upon by 6 halfcast’s when my missus told one of them she didnt smoke when she was rudely asked, i got pummelled, lost my job, cause i could not work after the beating. The kinghitter got 3 months jail, and me and my brother got 2 more later when they were by themselves. When i did security for 8 years the main problem people are the blacks, they go off for no fuckin reason, i was involved in a huge riot where i was working once, 2 against 15 black juveniles who all had there stories fucked up and riot before common sense. Another time while bouncing at a nightclub a black sheila spat in my face, i smashed her one.
Point is this hardly happened wit whites where i live and yes i am now rascist to a point, there are some good decent full blooded black fellas i know and respect, but most round where i am are halfcasts, inbreds who dont know either heritage.

I was living in LA during the riots. Most of the damage was done in black neighborhoods. That's right, the blacks were mad at Whitey, so they looted from black-owned businesses and houses. They didn't accomplish jack shit. I watched new footage of a black guy coming out of an electronics store with a TV, turn to the camera, and say, "Hi, mom!"

The Mexicans didn't pass up the chance to loot, either.
