Hey everyone,
I've had some small shoulder issues in the past where my rear delt/rotator cuff area have felt painful but it's never been anything major and has gone away on its own... however, today before my delt workout, I was warming my shoulders up and my right rear delt felt weird.
I didn't feel any pain, it just felt sort of weak and strange so I ignored it and went on with my workout.

I started off with DB shoulder press and already on my warmup sets, my right shoulder felt strange.....it was shaky and felt weaker than usual but I went on to my working sets and whereas my left delt felt normal, my right delt felt very weak in the rotator cuff area, shaky and had a lot of trouble controling and balancing the weight, and I got way less reps than I usually do with the same weight. I'm wondering what could be wrong, and what you guys think I should do?

What does your "shoulder warmup" consist of? Weighted or cables? If you're having trouble controlling the weights, I would generally back off and go to lower weights and more reps - more like you're doing a rehab workout than a training "for hypertrophy" workout. Do more w/ Range of Motion and cable stuff at much lighter weight that you can control. Its interesting you would have that sort of result but not have any pain. If you have a chiropractor or massage person, you might have them look at it. Poke around for a sore or inflamed spot check the different dimensions you can move in & ROM w/o pain to try to isolate it. Rotators, for a simple ball & socket joint, are incredibly complex complex connections to different areas supporting and balancing stability in so many different planes of motion. If you do find a sore spot, you might try putting some ice on it to see if it helps. Mostly just don't try to overdo because if there is something, it is very easy to aggravate it trying to work on different exercises that "don't hurt'.

Use a broomstick and hold it with a very wide grip in front of you. Raise it up, then behind your head, going back as far as you can until it becomes painful or until your range of motion ends. Do that then bring it back over your head in front of you again. Do 3 sets of that daily, as many times as you can without it becoming painful, and you will slowly improve your ROM and with 80% of rotator cuff issues, this will fix them

Thanks for your replies guys. What I mean is that the weights I usually had no trouble controlling felt shaky and I couldn't stabilize the DB well with my right arm because my right rotator cuff felt weird and weak.

I tried this but I didn't feel much of a stretch in my rotator cuffs. Maybe I'm doing it wrong?

Here's a demonstration of it - aka Shoulder dislocations. Particularly for rotator I'm not sure what a "stretch" feels like but rather to continually work on your ROM, flexibility of the whole joint. By increasing your mobility, there are fewer points of imbalance due to selectively tight areas that might be aggravated by some particular lift you do or the natural tendencies in motion you have.

Sounds like you may have a chronic injury that may develop if it already hasn't into a rotator cuff tear.
You may want to consider stopping all shoulder work until you go to a physician that specializes in sports medicine and be diagnosed and treated.

Very sound advise above. Had a fully torn rotator cuff last year. Doctor fixed me up last October. I am back lifting light now but still not 100%. It does take time to heal. He told me a year and I thought that would be too long. WRONG!!! Have to take my time with this one.

Im working through this right now. 2 small tears n front side of right shoulder in rotator cuff. man it is a b*tch. Cant do much of anything at the moment. driving me crazy. Got some rehab exercises..hoping to avoid surgery.
