Ok, I do both, but never really understood the whole differences between running and biking. The only thing I know is that running gets me more winded and kills my legs as opposed to just feeling it mainly in my legs when biking. Can anyone tell me what running works opposed to biking? just curious...

Running is generally better for you i would say. Run on grass as its easier on your knees. I think sprinting is the best form of cardio period.

When I'm feeling lazy i'll hit up the bike but besides that, I'm all about running

Theres no way I could work up a sweat biking like I can running, running hands down.
I hate running, but the feeling you get after an intense session can't be beat.

i like running also.. for some reason i find the treadmill more of a workout than just running on a track. i boost that biotch up to full blast and pray to god i dont fall off and look like an ass, it really pushes you that extra bit to get the job done IMO.

exactly the opposite for me, lol.

Treadmill is inside which more then likely has air conditioning.

Obviously none of you ever did a spinning class ... People tend to find running better for cardio because your legs aren't solicited that much compared to the bike. Because when you do the bike , the resistance is what kills you and lets face it , most people have trouble putting a high enough resistance(for 20-30 mins none stop) to have the same hearth rate as running . IF you want to sweat than you should crank up the resistance which then becomes very intense muscularly ...

tbh I would rather just run for 20-30 min, I guess its just personal preference.

but I know 20-30 min of running would make me puke, I can't say the same about "intense biking"

running's better, IMO. i bike as cardio on leg days, just do low resistance and try to keep the RPM high. not as good as running, but when i try to run after a good leg workout i feel like im gonna black out.

Running is very hard on ur whole body, from ur knees to your back, and worsens depending on then terrain u run on. But until my knees fail me, it will remain my main "source of cardio"! I must admit Im becoming a fan of the stair gauntlet thingy for what it does to my glutes!

LOL...then you've never done "intense biking" son... As someone alluded to, go do a spinning class...you will NEVER have your ass kicked in quite the same fashion. You will walk out of there as if you just showered in all of your clothing, and you will have soreness in places you never knew existed. I've seen people shed 10 to 15 pounds in a month from regular spinning classes. I certainly wouldn't recommend it for someone looking to build muscle as a primary goal.

You guys that don't work up a sweat biking are obviously not doing it right. :D

they both work, running just works a lot better... burns more cals, raises BMR higher and is IMO without doubt the best form of cardio for fat burning and overall CV health

it don't take a genius to work out how beneficial short intense running is for your appearence, just look at them olympic sprinters! mo' greene.. wow!
